In February 2024, I travelled to Slovenia with three of my close friends. After a couple of hikes and some absolutely phenomenal views along the way, I looked back at the footage I'd filmed just shy of a week later and realised my genuine passion for nature and these truly stunning sights. I decided to create a TikTok account and put my knowledge of media to work.
In about a week I managed to get the account to 10,000 likes. I still didn't think much of it at the time, but it was an enjoyable hobby. I posted every day that week, consistently, once per day without fail. Most of the early videos were from Slovenia — I wouldn't put any others up, because I have a very specific style in every video: panning up from the floor at a particular pace.
I kept at it for another few weeks and got my first properly viral video. (I don't class anything below five million views as viral.)
My first viral video reached 12,700,000 views in May 2024. It took me three months to get my first video over ten million views. Just over a month prior, I'd hit 100,000 followers — which made me think it could actually turn into something. That was also around the time I got my first client, who paid me £45 for one video. All I had to do was use one of his songs behind my video, which is perfect, as it's essentially what I do anyway.
As of a couple of months later I'd hit 200,000 followers and was gaining hundreds to thousands per day. I'd also taken on many more clients at various rates (a lot more expensive than when I first started), with clients ordering bulk amounts of videos and plenty returning. Everything I earned I was either saving or reinvesting into the account. I travelled to multiple countries during this time and filmed some truly stunning scenes.
I find it amazing that I get to do something I love — not only do I get paid for it, I get to share it with millions of people all over the world.
Just over a year later, I'm on more than half a million followers, getting millions of views and travelling to places I never thought I would — China, Austria, and next stop, Iceland. I'm continuing to share my views while branching out to YouTube to make videos on nature that go beyond just views: the most remote ghost island in the UK, surreal videos planned for Iceland, and coming up next, the most isolated house in the UK.
