Colour is an all-powerful tool in the world of brand design, capable of shaping views, conveying messages and evoking emotion. In this blog I explore how strategic colour choices can elevate a brand and reinforce its professional identity – and share what my own brand includes.

First, it's important to understand the psychology behind colour and how it influences emotion. Each colour has its own associations: the two most obvious being blue (trust and calmness) and red (urgency and energy). With this in mind, my brand follows this scheme: cream, gold and stone grey.

Cream is associated with purity and sophistication. It conveys calmness and tranquillity and is often used in interior design to welcome people – it helps me create an inviting atmosphere on my website.

Gold is synonymous with richness and prosperity, strongly associated with luxury and success. It represents the radiant quality I want my brand to possess.

Stone grey conveys stability and strength. It provides a versatile backdrop, balancing neutrality and complementing the other colours.

That is my minimalist palette, which goes hand in hand with my choice of typography. I start with cream to establish a clean foundation, then add a muted stone grey for depth without overwhelming the audience, and complement these with a soft gold to provide the luxury feeling – the palette acting as its own accent to my type.

Colour theory is another powerful tool for building a cohesive, impactful brand. By understanding colour psychology I can embrace my minimalist typography and complement it with a minimalist yet powerful palette to evoke the emotions I want even more.
